Leadership Development
At Carrabassett Valley Academy, 领导 development is an inherent part of our community; students run dish duty crews and campus clean-up teams. Students may also lead a community club, run for student council, and apply to be a Peer Mentor, 同伴导师, or a member of the CVA chapter of the National Honor Society. These and other 领导 opportunities allow our student-athletes to develop the skills needed to be productive members of any community beyond CVA.
Peer Mentors Program
The role of a CVA Peer Mentor is to guide and support other students by helping to create a safe, 支持, and productive environment. It is the goal for Peer Mentors to become suicide prevention trained, Mental Health First Aid certified, and serve as the link between students and staff to address students of concern and promote a positive culture.
Students entering grades 10-12 may apply to be a Peer Mentor. The application process asks students to demonstrate qualities of service, 领导, 和性格 and are expected to be approachable, 善解人意, 和值得信赖. The peer mentor application process is a thorough and complex process requiring student-athletes to meet certain criteria to be nominated and a rubric to evaluate each candidate with input from 教师, 教练, and current peer mentors.

The CVA 同伴导师 program is designed to encourage student 领导 and provide a better-supported academic environment. Students with an interest in being a peer tutor are approved by the teachers in multiple subjects. Tutors are trained to guide their peers and address multiple learning styles. Tutors are recognized based on a tier system, rewarding the number of hours spent tutoring during an academic year.
National Honor Society
The purpose of the Carrabassett Valley Academy National Honor Society chapter is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulate a desire to render service, promote worthy 领导, and encourage the development of character.
Full-year students can become eligible for CVA’s chapter of the National Honor Society in the second trimester of their sophomore year or during their junior year. To be eligible for selection, candidates must attend CVA for one trimester and have a minimum unweighted cumulative grade point average of 90. Upon meeting the grade level, 出席, and GPA requirements, candidates are considered by the CVA National Honor Society Faculty Council based on their service, 领导, 和性格.
The CVA Chapter of the National Honor Society takes 领导 roles in many community service endeavors including hosting the Special Olympics.

学生会
The 学生会 represents the interests of the student body by planning, 促进, and hosting community events. Council members also work with school officials to represent the interests of the study body. The 学生会 is a student run organization that meets once a week and members are elected by their peers through a democratic voting system.
社会提倡
The mission of CVA CommUNITY Advocates is to promote and maintain a community of belonging where all students, 教师, and staff feel welcomed, 有价值的, 受人尊敬的, 和安全的. It also seeks to create awareness and inclusion of differences, preparing students to be advocates for unity beyond CVA. The group is open to all employees and students. Meetings and activities occur a few times a month on a random schedule.
社区服务
CVA plays an important role in supporting the surrounding community of Sugarloaf and Carrabassett Valley. All students are expected to participate in school-sponsored community service projects throughout the school year. Events include the Special Olympics, 罐头食品募捐活动, the Carrabassett Valley Spring Clean-Up, and Sugarloaf work days.
